Take this medication as prescribed by your physician.
Recommended time of taking it is an hour prior to eating meals.
Missed Dose:
It is not advisable to miss a dose. But if a dose is missed, skip it then go on ahead with the regular dose. Do not double dose.
Storage:
This medication must be stored at room temperature.
Overdose:
Seek medical attention immediately if an overdose is suspected.
Usual symptoms of an overdose include sweating, nausea, headache, confusion, dry mouth, drowsiness and blurred vision.
Important:
- The medication may cause light-headedness. Do not engage in activities that requires mental alertness.
- Do not consume alcohol while on this medication.
- Do not use if allergic to it or its components or any similar medication and if taking HIV protease inhibitor.
- Contact your health care provider if there are any symptoms of bleeding ulcer; black tarry stools or coffee ground vomitus, or experiencing any throat pain, chest pain, difficulty in swallowing or severe stomach pain.
- This medication may interfere with some lab tests. Inform your doctor that you are taking Nexium if you will undergo certain lab tests.
- Side effects of Nexium may be increased in Asian patients.
- More caution must be given to children as both the effects and side effects are not yet identified.
- It is not known whether Nexium crosses breast milk or not, but do not breastfeed while taking this medication.
- Inform your health care provider regarding plans in pregnancy to discuss both the risks and the benefits of this medication.
